Simmons Crew Places 19th in Collegiate Women's Fours at 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta

BOSTON, Mass. ? The Simmons College women?s crew team placed 19th in the Women?s Collegiate Fours race this afternoon at the 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston, Mass. 

BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College women's crew team placed 19th in the Women's Collegiate Fours race this afternoon at the 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston, Mass. 

University of New Hampshire won the event with a mark of 18:20.141. 

The Sharks quartet of senior stroke Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.), followed by first year Samantha Kelsey (Salt Lake City, Utah), junior Madison Summers (Hudson, N.H.) and sophomore Sabrina Belozerova (Newton, Mass.) in the bow seat, directed by senior coxswain Clarice Johnson (Norwell, Mass.). The Simmons shell got off to a fast start with a time of 4:22.4 at the first marker to sit in 14th place, but started to slide back with a time of 10:39 at the second post. The Sharks clocked in at 16:00.9 at the third marker and finished the race with a time of 19:24.011 to edge out Binghamton University and Hamilton College by less than a second. 

Simmons will return to the water on Sunday, October 29 when it hosts the Seven Sisters Championship on the Charles River at 9:30 a.m.
