Crew Competes at Barbara Donahue Cup

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Simmons College crew team competed at the Barbara Donahue Cup this morning on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Simmons College crew team competed at the Barbara Donahue Cup this morning on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. 

The Sharks One Varsity shell placed fourth at the event with a mark of 8:00.64 in the 2000-meter race. Williams College won the race with a time of 7:25.16. Junior Ronnie Bennett (Pottstown, Pa.) was in the stroke seat for race, followed by classmate Phoebe Knox (Scituate, Mass.), first year Kate Krawczuk (Harrisburg, Pa.), sophomore Madison Summers (Hudson, N.H.), junior Captain Alexa Frongillo (Franklin, Mass.), first year Sabrina Belozerova (Newon, Mass.), first year Olivia Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) and senior Karina Bercan (Derry, N.H.) in the bow seat. Junior coxswain Clarice Johnson (Norwell, Mass.) served as the crew's vocal leader on the eight.

Simmons finished fifth in the Second Varsity Eight race with a time of 8:31.32, while Williams' second unit crossed the line first at 7:34.09. The Sharks boat was comprised of first year coxswain Ally Fecteau (Burlington, Conn.), followed by sophomore Eleanor Pullan (Northampton, Mass.) in the stroke seat with first year Hannah Dike (Leominster, Mass.) in front of her followed by first year Emily Saunders (Hebron, Conn.), junior Elizabeth Rea-Wilson (Concord, Mass.), first years Brianna Paterson (Pelham, N.H.), Rebecca Ramsey (Jefferson, Mass.)Kyetesie Heller (Sharon, Mass.) and sophomore Captain Nicole Lee (North Reading, Mass.) in the bow seat.

The Sharks Third Varsity Eight placed third, crossing the finish at 9:14.79 with Williams taking the top spot again with a mark of 8:03.81. Junior Captain Kaitlin Fierlit (Hamden, Conn.) gave the commands from the coxswain perch with sophomore Christine Yu (Plainville, Mass.) taking the stroke seat ahead of first years Sarah Walsh (Holbrook, Mass.)Peizhu Pam Qian (Beijing, China), Jess Rush (Marion, Mass.), Lily Pennington (Watertown, Mass.), Lauren Martin (Pittsfield, N.H.)Chloe Feuerstein (Winchester, Mass.) and Sarah MacEachen (Hollis, N.H.) in the bow seat.

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, April 29 when it competes at the New England Women's and Men's Athletics Conference Championship on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
