Crew Finishes Third at Seven Sisters Championship

HADLEY, Mass. - The Simmons College crew team finished third at the 2016 Seven Sisters Championship Regatta today on the Connecticut River in Hadley, Mass. The race was hosted by Smith College.

Wellesley College on its eighth straight team championship with 30 points, while the Sharks tallied 22 points.

Junior Elsbeth Colson (Everett, Mass.), sophomore Kellie Cann (Needham, Mass.) and first year Kate Krawczuk were all named to the All-Regatta Team for Simmons.

The Sharks began the day with the Second Novice finishing second to Wellesley by just over 14 seconds with a time of 20:58.80. The First Novice was also solid for Simmons, posting a time of 20:38 to Wellesley's mark of 19:53.

The Second Varsity Eight finished fourth for Simmons, clocking in at 21:04, while Wellesley's Second Eight registered a time of 18:23. The First Varsity Eight race saw the top four finishers separated by less than a minute. The Sharks placed fourth with a time of 18:37, while Smith College won the heat with a mark of 17:38.

Simmons is finished competing for the Fall, but will return to action during the Spring.
