WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College field hockey player Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced today by the league. Rastello has earned the accolade a league-high five times. She was also honored for the weeks of August 25-31, September 8-14, September 15-21 and September 22-28. 

In the Sharks' only match of the week, the sophomore stopped seven of nine shots in 82:17 minutes of action in a 2-1 overtime loss at Saint Joseph's College (Maine) in a battle of the league's last two undefeated teams within conference play. 

Rastello is tied for the league-lead with a .780 save percentage and five shutouts, while ranking second with a 1.21 goals against average in 15 matches. The Salem High School graduate has started every contest she's appeared in and has made 64 saves in 1038:25 minutes of play. Rastello has allowed two or fewer goals in all but three matches this season, while making seven or more saves on five occasions. She stopped a season-high 11 shots vs. Massachusetts Institute of Technology on September 4. 

For her career, the New Hampshire native has gotten the starting nod in all 23 matches she's played and owns a career .790 save percentage to go with a lifetime 1.65 goals against mark in 1610:35 minutes. She's posted a 14-9 record, including six shutouts. 

Simmons is currently 11-5 on the season, including 5-1 in league play and has won seven of its last eight matches. The Sharks have a first round bye in the inaugural GNAC Championship Tournament and serves as the number two seed. They will host a semifinal match on October 5, taking on the winner of number three Johnson & Wales University and sixth-seeded Rivier University.
