WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College field hockey player Jenna Gagnon (Waterville, Maine) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league.

The honor marks the fourth time this season that a Simmons player has been named the conference's top weekly player. First year forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) has garnered the award for the weeks of September 1-7 and September 29 to October 5 and senior forward Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) earned the accolade for the week of September 8-14.

In two matches, Gagnon tallied seven points on three goals and an assist. The sophomore notched at least one point in each match and began the week with a five-point effort with a pair of goals and an assist in the Sharks' 6-0 victory over Bay Path College on October 15. The forward capped the week with a marker in Simmons' 5-0 win over GNAC foe Rivier University on October 18.

Despite missing the first seven contests of the season with an injury, Gagnon ranks fourth on the team with 13 points on five goals and three assists in just eight matches. All of her points have come in the last four games, including three outings with at least three points.

A graduate of Waterville Senior High School, Gagnon has played in 28 career games, while making 21 starts. She has 33 points on 12 goals and nine assists for her career at Simmons. Gagnon burst onto the collegiate scene last season as a first year, earning two conference Rookie of the Week honors and was selected the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year as well.

The Sharks have currently won seven matches in a row as part of an 11-4 overall record, including a perfect 5-0 in league play to sit atop the conference standings. Simmons will be in action again on Saturday, October 25 when they take on the league's other undefeated team, Saint Joseph's College (Maine) at 1:00 p.m. in the regular-season finale.
