Rastello Named GNAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week For the Third Time

WINTHROP, Mass. - Simmons College field hockey player Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of September 15-21, it was announced today by the league. The award marks the third time this season that Rastello has earned the accolade. She was also named for the weeks of August 25-31 and September 7-14.

In the Sharks' only match of the week, the sophomore stopped both shots she faced to earn a 1-0 shutout victory at Anna Maria College on September 20. The shutout was her third of the year and her fourth career match without allowing a goal.

The Salem High School graduate has been exceptional this season, posting a .795 save percentage to lead all GNAC goalies, while ranking 50th in all of NCAA Division III. Rastello has made 35 saves for the year. She has not allowed a goal in her last 194:58 of action and has given up just one score in her last 310:53 of play. Rastello has seen time in all but 15:02 of the team's minutes in the cage this season and owns a 1.29 goals against average, which is good for second among league leaders.

For her career, the New Hampshire native has started all 15 contests she's appeared in, while recording a sterling .797 save mark to go with a 1.91 lifetime GAA in 1061:58.

Simmons has won three straight matches as part of a 4-3 season record, including a perfect 2-0 mark in GNAC play to give it the top spot in the conference standings. The Sharks return to action on Tuesday, Septmeber 23 when they travel to Norton, Mass. to take on Wheaton College for a 7:00 p.m. match.
