Williamson Named GNAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons College field hockey player Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College field hockey player Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today.   

Williamson racked up seven points on three goals and an assist in two matches for the Sharks to lead them to a 2-0 week. The senior tallied the team's lone goal in a 1-0 road victory at Regis College on September 9. The Natick High School product contributed to three of Simmons' goals with two scores and an assist in the Sharks' 8-0 victory over Mount Ida College to open the GNAC schedule on September 13. 

The forward has started four of six contests. A Tri-Captain, Williamson leads the team and ranks second in the conference with 10 points and four goals as well as two assists. She has contributed to multiple goals on two occasions for Simmons and is credited with all three winning goals the Sharks this season to double her career total. 

In 65 career matches, Williamson has 64 career points on 29 goals and six assists. 

Simmons is enjoying a two-match win streak and is currently 3-3 on the season, including 1-0 in GNAC play. The Sharks will be in action again on Saturday, September 20 when they had to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria College at 12:00 p.m.
