Rastello Named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week Again

WINTHROP, Mass. ? Simmons College field hockey player Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today. The honor marks the second time this season she has earned the award. Rastello was also named for the week of August 25-31. 

WINCHESTER, Mass. ? Simmons College field hockey player Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced today by the league. The award marks the sixth time this season that she has won the accolade to top the league. She was also honored for the weeks of August 25-31, September 8-14, September 15-21, September 22-28 and October 20-26.

WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College field hockey player Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of September 8-14, it was announced by the league today. The honor marks the second time this season she has earned the award. Rastello was also named for the week of August 25-31.   

The sophomore did not allow a goal in 124:58 of action, while earning a shutout and a pair of victories for the Sharks. She also made three saves in the two matches. The keeper posted her second shutout of the season and third of her career in the team's 1-0 road victory at Regis College on September 9. A graduate of Salem High School, she capped the week by stopping all three shots she faced in 54:58 of action during an 8-0 win over visiting Mount Ida College to open the GNAC slate on September 13. 

Rastello has made 33 saves in six matches and currently leads the league with a .786 save percentage. The second-year player has registered nine or more saves three times in 2014 as well. Her 1.50 goals against mark is good for second in the conference and she is the only keeper to record multiple shutouts among GNAC goalies this season. 

For her career, the New Hampshire native has seen action in 14 matches and nearly 1,000 minutes (991:58), while owning a .794 save mark with 112 stops to go with a 2.05 lifetime goals against average. 

Simmons is enjoying a two-match win streak and is currently 3-3 on the season, including 1-0 in GNAC play. The Sharks will be in action again on Saturday, September 20 when they had to Paxton, Mass. to take on Anna Maria College at 12:00 p.m.
