BOSTON, Mass. - First year forward Kelly Ryan (Hatfield, Mass.) tallied the first two goals of her collegiate career to lead the Simmons College field hockey team to a 5-0 victory over visiting Becker College this evening on Winsor Field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Hawks fall to 1-1.

Ryan's first marker came just 3:14 into the second half on a feed from senior forward Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) to give Simmons a 3-0 lead. She wasted no time getting her second score of the year when classmate Samantha Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) found her just under two minutes late to give the home team a 4-0 margin.

Williamson and Rondeau hooked up early in the opening half to put the Sharks on the board with Rondeau recording her first collegiate point on an assist from the right corner that Williamson converted at the 8:46 mark. Sophomore forward Madeline Koufos (Needham, Mass.) later collected a rebound shot on a penalty corner and snuck a shot into the back of the cage for her first tally of the season and a 2-0 Simmons' lead at 27:20 of the first period.

First year midfielder Marra Wagner (Chester County, Pa.) notched her first career goal as well when she found herself on the right slot for a scoring strike at 47:51 of the second half to cap the night's scoring.

The Sharks dominated the shots by a 27-1 count, while owning a 14-3 penalty corner advantage as well.

Sophomore keeper Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.) was untested in the match, earning her second career shutout, while junior goalie Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) came up with 14 stops for Becker. Junior midfielder Katherine Landanno (Winchendon, Mass.) recorded the only shot for the Hawks.

Simmons returns to action on Winsor Field on Thursday, September 4 when it hosts Massachusetts Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m., while Becker hosts Clark University on September 6 at 10:00 a.m.
