Field Hockey Names Cronin, Hines and Williamson Tri-Captains for 2014

BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College field hockey team named Amy Cronin (Georgetown, Mass.), Avery Hines (Newburyport, Mass.) and Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) as its Tri-Captains for the 2014 season it was announced by Head Coach Amanda Maxwell.

BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College field hockey team named Amy Cronin (Georgetown, Mass.), Avery Hines (Newburyport, Mass.) and Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) as its Tri-Captains for the 2014 season it was announced by Head Coach Amanda Maxwell.

Cronin enjoyed a breakout season for the Sharks in 2013, leading the team with a career-high 12 goals and 27 points, while ranking fifth among North Atlantic Conference leaders.  The junior started all 20 matches and led the squad with four game-winners. The forward also tallied at least one goal on 11 occasions, including a streak of four straight contests from September 28 to October 9. A graduate of Georgetown High School, Cronin has tallied 40 points in 39 career games, including 15 goals. 

Hines, who served as a Captain last year as well, anchored the defensive backfield for Simmons and was named to the North Atlantic Conference Second Team for her efforts. The senior racked up three defensive saves to lead the team, while standing seventh among league leaders in field stops. The Newburyport High School product has seen action in 44 matches during her three-year tenure with the Sharks, while making seven defensive saves.

Williamson found the back of the cage for Simmons five times in 2013 to place fourth on the squad as part of a 10-point season. A junior, Williamson also excelled in the classroom and was named to the NAC All-Academic team. The Natick High School graduate started 17 of 20 matches last year and heads into the 2014 season with 54 career points on 25 goals and four assists in 59 games.
