BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Field Hockey was named a 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award recipient announced Tuesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that have achieved a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year. This is the 13th consecutive year that Simmons Field Hockey has received this award.
In addition, seven members of the Sharks Field Hockey team were named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Caroline Bishop (Natick, Mass.), Alyssa Conley (Mendon, Mass.), Alexia Malone Oliver (Bristol, R.I.), Jillian Mercer (Dartmouth, Mass.), Robin Powell (Richmond, Vt.), Brianna Rastello (Salem, N.H.), and Kelly Williamson (Natick, Mass.) all received the accolade.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
Conley and Mercer were also named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
