Mindy Williams begins her seventh year as Head Coach of Swimming and Diving at Simmons.

Williams time at Simmons has been nothing short of spectacular, leading the Sharks to their 10th consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference title in 2013-14, while being named GNAC Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year for the third time.  In addition, she guided Simmons to a third place finish at the New England Championship to mark the highest finish in program history at the event.  She was honored by the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) as the organization's top coach as well.

During Williams' tenure, the Sharks have finished no lower than 13th at the New England Championship, including three top-eight showings. She's also tutored a GNAC Swimmer of the Year as well as a pair of league Rookie of the Year honorees and seen a staggering 19 school records broken to go with 10 new pool standards and 10 GNAC marks. In addition, she served as the NEISDA President for the 2009-2010 campaign.

Williams joined the Simmons coaching staff after four years as Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director at Regis College in Weston, MA, where she continually grew the women’s swimming and diving program and built a solid foundation for the first-ever men’s swimming and diving team.

A native of Vermont, she received her undergraduate degree in 2003 from Colby College.  While at Colby, she competed at the varsity level for four years and was an NCAA qualifier in 2000 and 2003.  She won All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) honors in the 1650, 500 and 200 freestyle relay and served as team Captain her senior year.

Williams started her career as the assistant coach of both swimming and water polo at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN.

Williams continues to swim at the Masters level, serving on the board of New England Masters. Most recently, in 2013-14 she earned National Top-Ten recognition in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-meter breaststroke, 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter IM. She earned All-American status for a first place finish in the 3000-yard Long Distance Championship.

In addition to her coaching duties, Williams also serves as the department’s Aquatics Director.
