Mitchell Named Head Athletic Trainer

BOSTON, Mass. – Brandon Mitchell (Carmel, NY) has been named Head Athletic Trainer at Simmons College, it was announced today by Director of Athletics, Ali Kantor.  

Mitchell's experience in the field of sports medicine is extensive, having served on the staff of Division I Stony Brook University for the past five years. While with the Seawolves, Mitchell worked exclusively with the men's basketball, women's soccer, volleyball, cross country and track & field teams. He also served as the primary athletic trainer for such events as the America East Conference men's basketball and baseball championships as well as the National Invitational Tournament for basketball and the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Final Four. He also served as the insurance coordinator, while managing physician visits and referrals in addition to building a medical network of highly qualified professionals in the surrounding area.

Prior to his time at Stony Brook, Mitchell worked primarily with the football program at Michigan State University and traveled with the baseball team in his two-year stint there.

A native of New York, Mitchell has also served as an athletic trainer at various camps for athletes ranging from basketball, football, lacrosse and wrestling. He has also shared his knowledge and experience as a lecturer, instructor and presenter at a number of symposiums, education programs and class settings.

During his accomplished career, Mitchell has earned numerous certificates and is a member of multiple Athletic Training organizations. 

Mitchell earned a bachelor of science in athletic training from Boston University in 2007 and also received a master of science in kinesiology degree from Michigan State. He currently resides in Wilmington, Mass.
